The grading criteria is similar to other martial arts. The AKA semi-contact competition rules are based on
the fundamentals of the World Association of Kickboxing Organisation (WAKO).

Grades from beginner to black sash

Novice:
Intermediate:
Advanced:
White
Red
Yellow
Orange
Green
Blue
Purple
Brown
Black

 Minimum number of weeks between grades

Novice:
Ungraded to White - 6 weeks
White to Red - 6 weeks
Red to Yellow - 6 weeks
Yellow to Orange - 12 weeks

Intermediate:
Orange to Green - 12 weeks
Green to Blue - 24 weeks
Blue to Purple - 24 weeks

 Advanced:
Purple to Brown - 36 weeks
Brown to Black - 36 weeks

White Sash to Blue = £10.00
Purple and Brown = £20.00
Black = £40.00
